With marijuana being legalized in quite a few states and countries now, you can have cannabis dinner and it is the right place to impress your friends with weed-infused baking skills of yours. After the dinner during the fall, nothing can compare with the fuzzy feeling that a baked apple pie would give. So how about elevating that fuzzy feeling with some weed into it. Here is a simple recipe to get it done.
But if you do plan to bake the weed-infused pie you should have cannabutter, it is the cannabis-infused butter and the cornerstone of baking with marijuana. This is done by extracting the THC, the psychoactive element of cannabis and then infused with butter.
- Melt butter in a medium saucepan on a low heat.
- Add the grounded decarboxylated cannabis into the melted butter
- On a low heat let it simmer between 1 and 1.5 hours stirring frequently.
- After that strain the butter into a container so the grounded buds are separated.
- Freeze the cannabutter for later use.
Ingredients you require for the crust
- All-purpose flour: 2.5 cups
- Cannabutter: 8 tablespoons (ensure it is cold)
- Vegetable shortening: 1/3 cup
- Salt: 2.4 teaspoon
- Ice water: 7-10 teaspoons.
Ingredients for the Filling
- Peeled, cored and sliced apple: 8 cups
- Cannabutter diced: 2 tablespoons
- Sugar: ¾ cup
- Cornstarch: 2 tablespoons
- Lemon Juice:2 tablespoons
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
- All purpose flour: 2 tablespoons
- Apple pie spice: 1.5 teaspoons
- Vanilla extract: 2 teaspoons
- Boiled apple cider: ¼.
- In a bowl combine the flour and salt and gradually add the vegetable shortening and keep mixing until the mixture has a crumbly consistency. Then add the cannabutter and continue to mix.
- Add 2 tablespoon of water gradually each time until the dough is moist and smooth.
- Divide the dough into two pieces; one size should be twice the size of the other. Shape each piece into a ¾ inch thick disk and then chill the dough, wrapping each disk individually in a plastic sheet.
- Whisk in all the dry ingredients into a bowl.
- Mix apple with lemon
- Bring the dry and wet ingredients together and mix them well.
Make the Apple Cannabis-infused pie
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
- Grease the pie pan
- Roll the bigger disk into a 13-inch circle and put it in the greased pan.
- Fill the pan with the apple mixture.
- Roll the smaller disk into the 11-inch circle and put it on top of the mixture
- Bake for 20 minutes, reduce the heat to 375 degrees F and then cook for 40 minutes.
